Way to Work
1. Review previous lessons on King Alfred.
2. Divide the class into two halves, one representing Alfred and one representing Jesus.
Read a question at a time after each team has chosen a spokesman to give the team’s
final answer. Discuss the similarities and differences.
a) Were both kings born in palaces? Why or why not?
b) How did their mothers help and train them?
c) Do you think both kings read the whole Bible?
d) Do you think that both kings prayed? When did they pray?
e) Do you think that both kings were always obedient to Father God?
f) Who were the kings’ enemies?
3. Compile a list of differences and similarities on the board. Discuss Alfred’s title –
Alfred the Great – did he deserve it?
