Sponsorship issues
Based on information gained from various forms of market research, it
is clear that if Coffs Harbour were to host the event, particularly over a
number of years, the sponsor interest in the event would be high.
Potential target markets (sponsors) would include:
• accommodation providers
• transport companies
• eateries
• pubs and night clubs
• tourism organisations/companies
• local and state government
• various local businesses (yet to be defined)
• communications companies
• motor vehicle dealerships
• security companies
• cleaning companies.
With any sponsorship agreement, the image, objectives and target
markets of the sponsor and the host must be compatible. Sponsorship
is not philanthropy and as such measurable and viable benefits must
be achieved for both parties if the arrangement is to be a successful
one. Please see Appendix 3, which outlines a detailed sponsorship
proposal that the NSW Touch Association has designed to meet the
needs of the Pelican Beach Resort.
