Type of event
The event is classed as a major event because of its size and media
interest, and its ability to attract visitors, media coverage and economic
benefits.
The event is divided into 2 sections:
1. the first week when the junior and open divisions competitions
are held
2. the second week when over-age divisions competitions are held.
The event is in the premier domestic tournament for elite Australian
touch football players and forms the major selection tournament for
national teams that compete in events such as the Trans Tasman Cup
and the World Cup (21 nations).
