in the media strongly feel for social justice and causes whenever they come across
such exaggerated news. As a result, they tend to be stirred emotionally. They desire
to bring back the balanced view and restore the dignity of the discriminated group.
They do so by sharing alternative points of view, which they stand for, using their
social media accounts. This is in hope that they would be able to ‘bring back’ their
peers who have been swayed and brainwashed by the warped opinions published
by the media.
Nevertheless, the remaining 15.3%, whose perspectives have been ‘Strongly
Changed,’ is mainly due to the belief that, “for the formal news, people often think
(that) everything they say is true.” For many of us, we are made to believe that
formal media are the most reliable and trustworthy source of information. This is
backed by the skilled researchers and professional journalists and newscasters
whom we deem to be credible and objective in their stance, be it political, gender,
racial, and so on. As such, these people tend to be more impressionable and more
susceptible to the influences of the biased media.
5. Conclusion
Through media, we get to know what’s going around the world and also get to
know new information. The main point of our report was to research how the media
could affect our views on something and raise awareness about the prevalence of
the existence of media bias. We have to remember, everything that is shown in the
media might not be true and some news or information on the media is biased.
We hope that our report made you realize how much the media could affect you
and change your views on something through their biased media posts and articles.
