Our group wishes to raise awareness about the prevalence of the existence of
media bias. It is more common than we think it is. We would like to focus on the
cases in America
Media Bias - Race
We are always surrounded and connected by the media. We are able to know what
is happening across the world with just a touch. But, not all the things in the media
can be bright. One thing that we can usually see in the media is people having a
biased opinion about another race. We can know when a person is biased or not
when someone writes or expresses their thoughts that offenses the other race or
siding their own race. This can occur in the news, social media, or other platforms
that can express ideas freely. These people who show racism through the media is
a type of racism called, “cyber-racism.” They are disturbed into two groups, people
who work individually and people who work in a group.
People who work individually usually do it to offend or hurt others. They get along
with other individuals that think alike to seek, “confirmation bias.” It can be seen
on blogs, gaming platforms, chatting platforms, etc.
The way they do it is by using power and privilege like freedom of speech as a
way to express their racism. They also reframe the current news about an issue
related to race and make it bad. Unfairly criticizing the other race is basically what
they do.
People who work in groups usually communicate through their own websites,
forums, or games. They are different from the people who do it individually as they
plan what they are going to write or say beforehand. They have a more persuasive
tone and softer tone than the individuals. They do this to get a supporter through
racist propaganda. The similarity between individual and group is that they want
