Abstract
The internet and media were escapes from the real world. Allowing people to
explore and experience new sources of entertainment and news. Over the years,
the media has grown larger and has gone worldwide. More and more people are
getting hired into media companies, but that also means more biased opinions
would enter the chat. People of different religions, people with different skin color,
political views, would have a voice. Media bias displays bigotry to one side of an
idea. We decided to analyze and dig deeper on this topic as the media starts to
show its true colors; mainly focusing on the States. Our groundwork has shown us
how persuasive one article can be to one’s point of view. We have done intensive
research on this controversy, and we hope you put your two cents into our
presentation.
1. Introduction
What is ‘Media Bias’?
Media bias is the deliberate selection and portrayal of news, events, and stories by
the journalists and producers within the mass media in a subjective or twisted
manner. Basically, these articles that are considered as biased, more often than not,
derogate a specific group of people who are regarded by society as the vulnerable
or the minorities. More than just discriminating against certain groups of people,
such biased contents also hold the corrupt power to convince and influence many
of their readers to adopt the same crooked view.
2. Objective
We will include racial and political media bias in our body paragraph. We are
focusing on this field as the situation in America well represents the bias hidden
inside news sites and the media.
