people to consider this matter better and encourage them to take part to share
their thoughts.
We will be interviewing about 3 people who are knowledgeable about politics
or this matter of Korea’s boycott of Japanese goods. Also, we will approach
students of our school who are willing to be interviewed. The reason behind this is
to know how well youths know about this citizens’ movement who organized the
boycott; and if Korean students studying abroad are familiar with this issue going
on in Korea. We will be asking for their opinion on whether or not they think this
has led to any economical benefits, crisis or retaliation. We will also ask if they
think that this boycott is reasonable or not, and why. Through interviewing, we aim
to collect some novel opinions of different perspectives and analyze them carefully.
Quantitative Method
For the quantitative method, we will proceed with surveys. The reason why we
chose to do surveys is because they can be done anonymously, which will allow
people who take it to be more honest to themselves. Also, surveys are in multiple-
choice format, which can be much convenient for people as they will easily be able
to make up their minds compared to subjective, open-ended questions.
In addition, it can be the best method to quantitate the results. We aim to
survey at least 30 people of different races in our school and outside of school. We
will be asking them if they are aware of Korea’s boycott of Japanese goods; and if
they are/were a participant.
We can provide a simple summary of this matter on the survey for people who
are not fully aware and then let them share their opinions on the next question.
We will also question whether or not they think this boycott is reasonable. Their
answers to these questions can show us the significance of the boycott in Korea.
