Trailing 14-6 from the first leg
back in May, Wymondham were
going to have a make a great
start to their second leg at home
if they were going to put Halver-
gate under pressure
They did just that with Jack
Pye and Chris Mann producing
solid wins in the singles against
Keith Cooke and David Lamb with
wins of 20-5 & 10-4. The fours
session saw Halvergate register
their first win of the night as David Knights, Steven Lamb, Simon Warnes and Morgan Warnes
beat Hayley Stratton, Mikey George, Andy Jackson and Jon Sparham 10-6 but Roger Steele,
Billie Barker, Melvyn Barker and Debbie Sparham made sure of an 8-2 first session win as
they beat Donna Lamb, Ray Lamb, Roy Walker and Robert Lamb 9-3.
Having made the start they needed Wymondham's Jack Pye was again in fine form in
the singles as he completed his second win of the night beating David Lamb 11-6 but Keith
Cooke looked to be edging Halvergate towards the six points they needed to force a tie-breaker
as he lead 9-5 with one end remaining
in his match against Chris Mann.
However the SMPT highest
ranked English player from last season
was not to be denied and his positive
play earned him four shots for a crucial
9-9 draw which saw the two teams tied
at 17-17 with six points still to play for
going into the final rinks session.
Morgan Warnes' four was the only
positive for Halvergate winning both
match's on the night, this time by 8-5
against Debbie Sparham's block but a
big 20-6 win for Jon Sparham's four
against Robbie Lamb's block sealed the
bonus shots
and a 7-3 ses-
sion win, which
gave Wymond-
ham a tight 21-
19 win overall.
