              In the Men’s Singles final played over 10-ends, Pat Dorgan -  The Hut. beat Charlie
              Saville of Watergrasshill. The Umpires on duty for the final were as follows:-  Mary Boyde,
              Eddie Mills, Christine O’Mahony, Denis O’Mahony, John O’Driscoll, Michael O’Shaugh-
              nessy, Albert Ruxton & John Turner.  The prizes were presented by Rebbeca Lewis  and
              the Perpetual Trophies were presented by Hazel Payne to Gisela  Gloge the Ladies Pairs
              Champion and Hazel Foley to Pat Dorgan the men’s Champion.
                    Quarter-final results:-  (P. Dorgan –The Hut) beat  (D. Cahill –Mitchelstown), (T. O’Shea
              –Midleton) beat (M. O’Riordan –Glenview),  (L. Hannigan –Conna) beat (D. Twohig – Douglas
              GAA) & C. Saville – Watergrasshill) beat (M. O’Regan – Conna). Semi-finals, (P. Dorgan –
              The Hut) beat (Tony O’Shea – Midleton) and  (C. Saville – Watergrasshill) beat  (Liam  Han-
              nigan – Conna).

              The final of the Cork Zone Inter Club Championship for the Frances Cody Trophy was played
              in the S.M.A. Hall,   Wilton, Cork. between Watergrasshill  B.C. and Conna  B.C. and was
              held in the format as One Singles, One Pairs, One Triple and One Fours. After a very close
              and exciting match Watergrasshill B.C. defeated  Conna B.C. to win the Perpetual  Trophy
              for the second year  in succession.
                    Watergrasshill’s singles player Liam Conlon beat Adrian Tanner 11/8. In the pairs The
              Watergrasshill duo of Paddy O’Regan & Josie O’Riordan Conna’s Fred Prince & John Martin
              3/10. The triples was better for Watergrasshill with Majella Conlon, Marie O’Connell & Denis
              Crowley beating Unity Harper Smith, Michael O’Regan & Ber Feeney 8/6.
                    The last games was a fours in which Joan O’Callaghan, Charlie Saville, David West &
              Sean O’Riordan of Watergrasshill; drew with  Noel Mulcahy, Pat Hogan, Michael Lane &
              Liam Hannigan 9/9. This left Watergrasshill on 7 points) to Conna’s 4pts. The Frances Cody
              Perpetual Trophy was presented by Aidan Cody to Denis Crowley, the Watergrasshill Club
              Captain
              Betty & Tony Keneally take the Westgate over 60’s Pairs
              Betty & Tony Keneally take the Westgate over 60’s Pairs
              Westgate Bowls Club staged the final session of their Annual over (60’s Pairs)  Competition
              for the Westgate Perpetual Trophy in the Westgate Centre, West Village, Ballincollig. The
              competition attracted an entry of 160 players in 80-teams from all the leading clubs in the
              Cork Zone and in the final played over 9-ends in which Douglas GAA B.C’s Betty & Tony
              Kenneally defeated “The Hut” pairing of Ger. Fitton & Dermott O’Connell.
                    The Kenneally’s stuck first with an opening three, which they followed up with a single.
              A two to “the Hut” pairs was replied with a two from the Kenneally’s and this patter was re-
              peated over the next two ends until the score stood at 8 - 4 with three ends to go. The Ken-
              neally’s suddenly struck with a four for a convincing eight shot lead with two end to go. Back
              came  Fitton & O’Connell with a three to give them the glimmer of a hope with just one end
              to go but needing a five for a draw they were kept to just a single, leaving Betty & Tony Ken-
              neally as the over 60’s Champions by 12 shots to eight.
                    The prizes were presented by Biddy Barrett, Paul Byrne & Noreen O’Regan, Trophies
              by Gretta O’Brien and the Perpetual Trophy by Nora Hennessy. The Umpires on duty for the
              final session were Mary Boyde, Hazel Foley, Hazel Payne & Sean O’Suileabhain.
