Shane Hand Wins Junior Singles
20 Shane Hand Wins Junior Singles
Corduff's Shane Hand kept up the excellent tra-
dition which Oriel Zone have had in recent years
with junior bowls. In the final against Cookstown
Parochial's Daniel Davidson, Shane dominated
the first 9 ends after picking up 7 shots on the 2nd
and 3rd ends.
Throughout he displayed remarkable matu-
rity relying on the ability to keep playing drawing
bowls. On the other hand Daniel often had to play
forcing shots which did not come off. The
Parochial player got some hope picking up a 4 in
the 10th end to be 12 - 8 down. On the 12th end he could possibly picked up 3 to close the gap to
2 but played to take out Shane's lying bowls to effectively lose the game. Shane still has 2 years
left as a junior and could well put together a winning streak it would be difficult to equal.

The junior pairs final saw St Anthony's
Sean Breen & Betheny Whittle con-
vincingly win the title with a 16 - 3
score over Ballywalter Park's Matthew
& Curtis Hastings. The Armagh pair
got off to great start to lead 7 - 1 after
5 ends.
They continued this form re-
stricting their opponents to just 2
shots in 9 ends. It is never pleasant to
lose a game heavily but the Ballywalter pair deserves credit for not giving up and continually trying
to haul their way back into the game.
