In the Final Crosshaven’s Mary Middleton, Con Middleton & Conor Middleton beat Water- 21
grasshill’s Josie O’Riordan, Eddie Mulholland & Seán O’Riordan. Crosshaven drew first
blood with a four on the opening end and followed this up with a two for a 6 - 0 lead. Water-
grasshill then scored a two but this was immediately followed up with a two for Crosshaven. A sin-
gle to Watergrasshill was answered by a stunning five to give Crosshaven a 13 - 3 lead with just
three ends to go and the eventual score was 15 - 7.
The Umpires on duty for the final session were as follows: Mary Boyde, Michael J. O’Shaugh-
nessy, Seán O’Sullivan and Albert Ruxton. The prizes were presented by Mrs. Alison Flack (Pres-
ident of the I.C.I.C.Y.M.A.) to the winners and also the Perpetual Trophy to Conor Middleton (Skip)
of the winning team. Congratulations are due to all the members of the (I.C.I.C.Y.M.A.) Bowls Club
in running another successful Triples competition.

CONNA WIN THE DOUGLAS GAA TRIPLES
Douglas GAA Bowls Club staged their Annual Licensed Triples Tournament for the Douglas Credit
Union Perpetual Trophy over seven days in the Douglas GAA Pavilion. The Tournament was once
again a huge success attracting 327 players in 109 Triples.
At the Quarter-final stage Conna (A. Tanner) beat Douglas GAA (A. Twohig, A. Dunlea & D.
Twohig); Wilton (P. McCarthy) beat Watergrasshill (P. O’Regan, S. O’Regan & D. Crowley);
Ballincollig GAA (J. O’Donoghue)) beat Ballincollig GAA (M. Boyde, S. O’Leary & M. Sisk) and
Watergrasshill (L. Conlon) beat Grange/Frankfield (S. O’Sullivan, B.S. Hamilton & J. Long).
In the Semi-finals Conna, led by Adrian Tanner beat Wilton’s Kay McCarthy, Neil O’Keeffe &
Pat McCarthy and Watergrasshill’s skip Lim Conlon led his team to victory over Ballincollig GAA’s
Eithna Linehan, P.J. Hagan & J. O’Donoghue.
In the Final, Conna’s Tom Finn, George Tanner & Adrian Tanner beat Watergrasshill’s David
West, Majella Conlon & Liam Conlon. Conna opened up with two two’s and a single. Watergrasshill
replied with two singles but another two to Conna gave them a 7 - 2 lead. An exchange of singles
and a two to Watergrasshill left Conna with an 8 - 5 victory. It was a good final with some excellent
bowling between the two sides.
The Umpires on duty for the final session were Eddie Mills, Sheila O’Driscoll, Marie O’Leary,
Michael J. O’Shaughnessy and Sean O’Suillieabhain. The prizes were presented by Sean O’Suil-
leabhain the Douglas GAA Club Captain, who also presented the Douglas Credit Union Perpetual
Trophy to Adrian Tanner, the Skip of the winning team.

B.E.D.A. Bowls Club staged their Annual Licensed Triples Competition for the B.E.D.A. Perpetual
Trophy with 75 teams in action for the top prizes. The Tournament was held in the Bandon Gram-
mar School Sports Hall, Bandon, and resulted in a victory for Midleton Bowls Club who defeated
Conna Bowls Club in the final, played over nine ends.
At the Quarter-final stage Barrs (P. O’Reilly) beat Barrs (Margo Murphy, Tim Healy & Ray
Murphy), Conna (M. O’Regan) beat B.E.D.A. (Rita Cullinane, Sonny Cullinane & Eamon Stroker),
Midleton (J. Kirby) beat I.C.I.C.Y.M.A. (Betty Shellard, Chris Heaslip & Martin Bracken) and Conna
(A. Tanner) beat Sacred Heart (Carrie Oldham, Peg Aherne, & Chris Aherne).
In the Semi-finals, Conna, led by Michael O’Regan, beat Barrs Marie O’Reilly, Norma Healy
& Pat O’Reilly by 11 shots to 6. In the other semi Midleton with skip Joe Kirby beat Conna’s Tom
Finn, George Tanner & Adrian Tanner by 10 shots to 4.
Apart from just one of the nine ends, the Final was an extremely tight and hard fought match.
End four was absolutely Crucial with Midleton’s Con O’Sullivan, Callie O’Sullivan & Joe Kirby scor-
ing a five for a 7 - 1 lead. Two singles brought Conna’s Catherine O’Regan, Philip Walton & Michael
O’Regan back to 3 - 7 but a single and a two left the score at 10 3 with a no-score end closing the
match with victory going to Midleton.
The Umpires on duty for the final session were Eddie Bannon and Albert Ruxton. At the con-
clusion of play Frank Buttimer the B.E.D.A. club Captain presented the individual prizes and also
the Perpetual Trophy to Joe Kirby the Skip of the winning team.
