Diane Williams, Martin Williams & Mark Payne (Penlee). Elise Daniell, Nicholas Truscott
& Peter Hore (Holmans) defeated Sam Groves, Gordon & Jenny Smith (Treviscoe) 11-4.
In the Semi-finals, a score of five on the penultimate end saw Gerald Fisher take the lead for
the first time in the game to win 13-8 against David Topliffe. Peter Hore established an early lead
against Max Burden going on to win 9-7. The Final between Peter Hore and Gerald Fisher only
a couple of shots separate the teams and them level going into the last end in which Fisher made
two shots with his final bowl to win 9-7.

COUNTY TWO WOOD SINGLES
The finals of the County Two Wood Singles were played at Carnmoggas Indoor Bowling Club. In
the Quarter Finals Peter Hore (Holmans) defeated Henry Kendall (Holmans) 12-7. Martin Boraston
(Dobwalls) won 12-8 against John Worton (Ladock). Gerald Fisher (Illogan) was a 12-9 winner
against David Balow (Marazion) and Nigel Nicholls (Newlyn Trinity) defeated Jim Stanley
(Marazion) 14-6. In the Semi Finals Peter Hore won 13-9 against Martin Boraston and Gerald
Fisher defeated Nigel Nicholls 12-3. Peter Hore won the final defeating Gerald Fisher 12-7 with
two ends to spare in the final.
COUNTY FOUR WOOD PAIRS
COUNTY FOUR WOOD PAIRS
Over two day weekend the County Four Wood Pairs qualification competition was played at Carn-
moggas with 32 teams playing on Saturday and 29 on Sunday. Saturday was set up as 8 groups
of 4 providing group winners to play a knockout round.
After the group stages, in the knockout round Linda Martin and Gerald Fisher defeated
Richard Brown and Arthur Tubb 10-5. Jimmy Rule and Terry Bray were 11-8 winners against Les-
ley Clayton and Tony Knight. Elise Daniell and Peter Hore won 12-4 against Lynne and Gary
Davey. Dennis Shorthouse and Richard Kerr claimed the final spot with a 7-5 win against Anne
and Ian Perry.
On the Sunday 29 teams were organised into seven groups for the round robin stage with
one group of 5 and six of 4 with the seven group winners and best runners up progressing to the
knockout round. The knockout round saw Derek Elliott and Mark Eddy defeat Margaret and John
Menhenick 17-2. Graham Luke & Brian Wakeley won 12-1 against Betty Temple Smith and Henry
Kendall. Margaret Jenkin and Nigel Nicholls were 13-8 winners against Neil Gribble and Gillian
Cawrse. Edward Wakeley and Tony Jago were the final qualifiers with a 9-7 win against Diane
and Martin Williams.
On finals day, in the Quarter Finals Linda Martin & Gerald Fisher (Illogan) defeated Margaret
Jenkin & Nigel Nicholls (Newlyn Trinity) 11-6. Elise Daniell & Peter Hore (Holmans) outplayed
Dennis Shorthouse & Richard Kerr (Landrake) 23-1.
Graham Luke & Brian Wakeley (Ladock) were 11-7 winners against Edward Wakeley & Tony
Jago (Treviscoe). In the final game Derek Elliott & Mark Eddy (Holmans) only won three of the
nine ends in defeating Jim Rule & Terry Bray (Lostwithiel) 12-8 including an 8 shot maximum on
the fourth end.
In the semi-finals Fisher & Martin came from 1-9 down to defeat Daniell & Hore 12-10 and
Elliott and Eddy were never in trouble as they defeated Luke and Wakeley 13-3. In the final Fisher
and Martin came from 1-5 down to win 10-6.

12 club champions from across the county compete in the Champion of Champions Singles com-
petition, with the event being played on a straight knockout format. In the preliminary round Gra-
ham Reeves (Saltash) defeated Bob Williams (Illogan) 10-6. Neil Gribble (Landrake) won 12-6
against Marjorie Treneer (Porthleven). Kath Goodman (Treviscoe) defeated Terry Trevorrow
(Hayle) 13-8 and David Stokes (Wadebridge) was a 15-7 winner against John Ashby (Luxulyan).
The quarter finals saw Graham Reeves defeat Neil Gribble 13-4, David Stokes an 11-2 win-
ner against Kath Goodman, Peter Hore (Holmans) had no difficulty in overcoming Paul Cummins
(Liskeard) 15-2 and David Topliffe (St Minver) won a tight game against Tony Liddicoat (Withiel)
9-10.
