Ancestor Duke Yan. His stylistic Contributed and published by
name was Chi Lu and carried the YAN JUNG WEN, 9st Yan
posthumous title Wen Yu. descendant

He was a village officer in service with
the Lu government. Through his
marriage to a lady of the Chiang clan
from the neighbouring Chi kingdom,
Yan Wu Yao was formally accepted
and absorbed into the main Chinese
cultural society. He became the
earliest ancestor of the Yan clan.

18 Generation
Yan Wu Yao begot YAN HUI, styled
Viscount Yan, was the leading
disciple of Confucius whose talent
led him to become on of the selected
and most virtuous of Confucius
disciples.

He resided at Lou Hsiang, Lu
kingdom and was the first of I FU's
grandson to be assimilated into the
Chinese society. He similarly took,
to be his wife, a lady of the Tai clan
from Song kingdom in the south.
As the eldest son born of this
marriage alliance, Yan Hui became
the First Ancestor of the Yan clan
and progenitor in the genealogical
line recorded of this family and his
