First Ancestor Yan Fang
First Ancestor and First Generation of the Yan Clan in Min Nan (now
known as Fu Chien (Fujian) Province)
T chose to live in Szu Pin village, Shih
he Genealogical Chart of the
Yan Clan with record of the
Male descendants born from
legally married spouses in Szu Pin
Village, Te Hua County, Yung Chun
Prefecture.
It began from a member of the
43rd generation whose ancestor
originated in Yan kingdom, one of the
nine political divisions of ancient
China, incorporating parts of
Shantung and Hopeh province, when
he set out from Wen prefecture,
Honan province and entered into Min
territory to carve a permanent base
for the development of his
descendants in Fu Chien Province.
Forefather Yan Fang is listed
in the Yan Family record as the First
ancestor of the Yan clan in Fu Chien
province. He was awarded
posthumously with the title of a
Marquis and thus raised to the
nobility rank.
He was the third son of
forefather Yan Ching Mao and bore
the stylistic name of Chiao Hsien.
His former place of residence was in
Wen Chou or Wen prefecture, Honan
province. Thereafter, he
accompanied his father and ventured
into Min territory as a government
official with the rank of county
magistrate and responsible for the
maintenance of law and order. He

He was born in the third year
reign of Emperor Tang Te Tzung and
passed away on the first year of
Emperor Tang Hsien Tung's
succession to the throne. He lived to
the ripe old age of seventy-four (74).
His deceased wife was the
twelfth daughter and a lady of the
first rank - belonging to the Cheng
clan. She was awarded with the
posthumous title of Kung Shun. She
came from Hang Chou, the capital of
Chechiang province and lived in a
mansion along the South Street that
belonged to her father, a high official
of Jung Yang. According to the
list in the clan records, she bore to
the family of forefather Yan Fang,
seven sons as well as seven
daughters. The sons were named: -
1. Yan Huan,
2. Yan Jun
3. Yan Han,
4. Yan Fei
5. Yan Ya
6. Yan Kuei and
7. Yan Jen Yu
The eldest daughter in the
family became the legal wife of a lord
in the Su family, Wu Kung district.
