commission, citizenship status, status with regard to public assistance or any other protected
classification under applicable federal, state or local law, is against LSBA policy and will not be
tolerated.
All Employees have a responsibility to maintain a workplace free of discrimination, harassment or
retaliation. Discrimination includes, but is not limited to, making any employment decisions or taking
any employment-related action on the basis of any legally protected classification. All suspected
incidents of discrimination under this Policy must be promptly reported in accordance with the
Complaint Procedures contained herein.
Sexual Harassment
The LSBA prohibits any applicant, Employee, volunteer, contractor, vendor, Member, or visitor from
making sexual advances of a verbal or physical nature toward an applicant, Employee, vendor,
contractor, volunteer, Member, or visitor of the LSBA.
Sexual harassment is specifically prohibited by this policy and is defined under this policy as
unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal, nonverbal, visual or physical
conduct of a sexual nature when:
Submission to that conduct is made an explicit or implicit term or condition of
employment, service, or the professional relationship;
Submission to, or rejection of, that conduct is used as a basis for employment decisions
affecting the individual, or decision affecting the terms of service or the professional
relationship; or
That conduct unreasonably interferes with an individual’s work performance or creates
a hostile, offensive or intimidating work environment.
Examples of conduct that may rise to the level of sexual harassment in violation of this policy include,
but are not limited to, the following unwelcome or unsolicited conduct whether directed at or made in
the presence of any individual:
Unwelcome or unsolicited physical conduct of a sexual nature, including physical
touching, massaging, patting, pinching, brushing up against, hugging, cornering,
kissing, fondling, or any other similar physical contact considered unacceptable by
another individual;
Unwelcome or unsolicited requests or demands for sexual favors which includes subtle
or blatant expectations, pressures, or requests for any type of sexual favor accompanied
by an implied or stated promise of preferential treatment or negative consequences to
one’s employment, business or professional relationship with the LSBA, or the
expectation that compliance with the request or demand for the sexual favor is “part of
the job,” or business or professional relationship;
