      Insurance


      Insurance
        Upon registration, newly-enrolled students shall submit a proof of health and
        medical insurance valid for at least six months from the date of arrival in
        Taiwan.
        According to MOE regulations, international students who haven’t taken
        out insurance should take out health and medical insurance for international
        students for 6 months. The premium is NT$500 every month.
      National Health Insurance (NHI)
        International students who have stayed in Taiwan for six full months after
        receiving ARC (Alien Resident Certificate) are required to participate in the
        National Health Insurance program. During these six months, only one trip
        outside of Taiwan is allowed and the trip must not exceed 30 days. Trip days
        may be added onto the remaining days one requires to complete a full stay of
        six months.
        The OIA Office will help students in applying for the National Health Insurance.
        The NHI premium is NT$749 every month, and the premium for one semester
        (6 months) is NT$4,494. The University will collect the six-month premium with
        the tuition & fees at the beginning of each semester.
        For students who are NOT qualified to enroll in this program, you may enroll in
        the insurance programs NKUST provides.

        ※Penalties for violation
        NHI  is  a  compulsory  program  for  all  residents
        in Taiwan. Those who fail to participate in the
        NHI  program  shall  pay  a  fine  of  NT$3,000  to
        NT$15,000, and they should pay the NHI premium
        from the date on which they are qualified to participate in the NHI program.
        ※How to apply for re-issuing or replacing NHI card?
        If the NHI card is damaged, lost, or if there is a change of card holder’s
        information  or  photo,  please  fill  in  the  application  form  and  submit  the
        application with a processing fee of NT$200 to the National Health Insurance
        Administration or postal offices.
