The thumb and index finger should be
pinched together to form a bridge that will
support the club at the top of the
backswing. The “V” formed by the thumb
and index finger should point to the right
shoulder.
The thumb should not be on top of the club;
it should point slightly more to the left than the left thumb.
The following problems are often the result of incorrect hand
placement:
Slicing and Outside to In swing path
The right hand dominates the swing because the left hand is in a
weak position. The dominant right-hand
strikes a glancing blow, imparting spin and
causing a slice.
The right elbow is rotated to point directly
away from the target at address, probably
because the right hand is rotated to the
left.
