golfers give up at this important juncture, convinced that they

could not master this crucial skill.

As Henry Ford said, “Whether you believe that you can or you

cannot, you are right.” So please believe me when I say that

you can do this if you choose to believe that you can, but you

will fail if you decide to believe that you cannot.

It does not matter whether we are talking about grip pressure,

alignment, tempo or any other facet of the game. You will not

succeed if you are not prepared to commit your efforts to

master the fundamental techniques described in this book.

Grip position is a relatively easy thing to talk about and to

illustrate with images, but Grip Pressure is a little more

difficult because it involves a subjective assessment.

Much has been written about grip pressure, and it can pretty

much be summed up as a recommendation that on a scale of

1 to 10, your grip pressure should be about a 5. Ok, great, but

                     what does that mean?

We know from measurements taken using a grip pressure

monitor such as this one, that golfers maximum grip pressure,

measured in pounds of pressure, can vary between 90 and

250 pounds. Also, the dominant hand is usually 10 to 15
