The Interlocking grip has the right pinkie finger slotted
between the left pointer finger and middle finger.
The main difference between the Vardon and Interlocking grips
is that the Vardon allows nine fingers to touch the grip and the
Interlock allows eight fingers to touch the grip. It has been
suggested that the Interlocking grip is better for people with
small or weak hands, but sometimes it just comes down to
comfort.
The 10-finger or baseball grip is probably a good choice for
children where hand size and strength are initially a problem,
but most good juniors switch later to a Vardon or Interlock with
the main deciding factor probably being the preference of their
coach or parent.
