stopper knot in the working end of a rope as a precaution-
            ary measure after completing the primary knot.  Figure 9
            shows a clove hitch that has been tied around a branch.  To
            help prevent slipping, an overhand knot has been tied as a
            stopper in the remaining length of the working end.


            Critical Application: You’ll see this term used in this book
            when referring to applications for various knots that pose a
            risk to personal safety or if there is a possibility of property
            damage when using particular knots.  It is the responsibility
            of the person using rope and/or tying knots to determine if the
            situation should be considered a critical application.


            Non-Critical Application:  A term used throughout this
            book when referring to situations when you’ll be using light-
            duty rope or string for situations when the failure of cordage
            or a knot won’t pose a risk to personal safety or the pos-
            sibility of property damage.  It is the responsibility of the person
            using rope and/or tying knots to determine if the situation should
            be considered a non-critical application.
