              Living Wall

We kept California’s temperate climate in
mind when designing this living wall, one
of our newest installations that adds a
vast array of color to this luxury residential
       complex. The condominiums, developed
by Align Real Estate, designed by architects
Woods Bagot and constructed by Build
Group, offer a stunning view of the living
wall. The living wall installed on the exterior
of the residential and commercial building
at 2177 Third Street in San Francisco is 48-
foot high by 25-foot wide and spans five-
stories. The wall is quickly blossoming
into a local landmark in the San Francisco,
       Dogpatch neighborhood. We worked
with Framework Engineers and had them
review drawings with the architect, Woods
Bagot. Then, our installation team attached
our living wall framing and materials to the
       building’s wall.

The wall itself didn’t require any additional
add-ons to support the living wall. Our
structural plan will keep the wall in place
       throughout any weather or seismic
conditions. There are 13 different plant
species included in the plant palette
       including Geraniums, Lomandra ‘sea
       breeze’, Fuchsia thymifolia, Agapanthus
‘Peter Pan’, Correa ‘wyns wonder’ Heuchera
‘marmalade’ and more. Many of these were
chosen to attract local pollinators and on
any given day you can find honeybees,
moths and bumble bees all at once. Our
       approach thoroughly examines the micro-
       climates, potential growth rates, and
lighting conditions of the installation space
to ensure that an appropriate species is
specified for each spot on the wall. Foliage
color, leaf texture, flowering times, and
       seasonal interest are all considered.
