Installation

The Café in our client’s large office was just one
more area that was slated for greenery to enhance
the biophilic vibe of the entire building. The
project was designed with several goals in mind.
One, bring greenery into the Café. Two, break up
the expansive space a bit for a little more privacy.
And three, enhance the view from the lobby above
which looks down at the Café. Simple troughs in
lightweight galvanized steel with a carbon finish
were selected. The plant palette consisted of
Ficus elastica burgundy, Dracaena rikki, ZZ’s and
Sansevieria laurentii. The plants were strategically
placed for the visual when looking down at
the Cafe. The inspiration came from the castle
gardens of Europe with their clean manicured
rows of plants. The project was to be installed at
the end of March. The pandemic ensued and the
project was put on hold. Then in July of 2020, we
installed the plants and containers. Because of
COVID, we managed the project with everyone’s
safety in mind. Everyone wore N-95 masks. The 165
plants were put in separate stations. Each installer
had their own group of plants to prep. We made Installation
separate installation kits for each member of our 2022
team so that there would be absolutely no cross-
contamination. All plants were sub-irrigated using Platinum
the wicking system. The client couldn’t believe Winner
what a difference adding the plants made. Before
the plants went in new furniture was installed, but
the client said that it was the plants that brought Urban Jungle
the Café to life. for project
