Living Wall

Providing a visual connection to nature, the floor
to ceiling living wall occupies a major transition
hallway just off the elevators. As people move
through the space, one can feel a noticeable
increase in humidity. Periodically through the
week, the irrigation system is turned on and for
several minutes gives a soothing sound of falling
water.

The plant patterns designed and chosen for
the wall utilize biomorphic shapes, textures
and patterns that evoke a feeling of movement.
Additional comments:

The (36) 2’ wide x 4’ H x 3” deep living wall panels
containing 2,592 4” plants are covered in a geo-
textile that allows us to cut and place plants
exactly where they need to be placed. Sandwiched
between a PVC backerboard they are filled with
our plant loving (proprietary) “super bio media”.
The system is designed for maximum and rapid
root growth.

Superb water absorption allows an extremely
balanced water / air ratio for the root zones of the
plants, giving them the opportunity to flourish.

This also allows for easy irrigation design and
installation. This unique system doesn’t have to have
a straight edge, and we have made curved, amoeba
shaped living walls
