UP AND AWARE - 7
Discuss:
Do you know of anyone who has never made an excuse for something
that he/she was not able to do?
Sometimes, people become stressed when they cannot perform to the
best of their abilities. For example, if you have three tests in one day
and you don’t have enough time to revise for all the tests, you may end
up doing well in two tests but not in the third one.
Most children become stressed about grades, examinations, pressure
to do well, fear of disappointing their parents, friends and friendships,
lack of time and sleep, too many things to juggle with, etc.
When you are stressed, you may be doing some or all of these
things:
• You start many things at once but don’t complete any of
them in time.
• You bite your nails.
• You fall ill.
• You feel irritated most of the time.
• You yell at you friends and/or family.
• You feel exhausted.
• You find it difficult to concentrate.
When you’re stressed, you
cannot act responsibly to
perform your best.
