DAY44
ALYSSA WEIGHS IN
OK... the big weigh-in today. We are all holding our breath
wondering if Alyssa will make her weight or not? On Sunday,
she was 1,040 grams. On Wednesday, she was only a mere 1,060
grams – that’s only 20 grams more! What is going on? Is she
burning all of her calories holding her breath? Is she pumping
up by pulling on her tubes? Is she exerting too much energy
working her arms and legs free from the swaddling ties? Is she
spending too much time kicking her musical lamb from one end
of the “house” to the other (yes, she did do that the other day!)?
No matter – to all of our astonishment and great pleasure, today
at 12:00 PM, Alyssa weighed in at a humongous 1,150 grams!
That’s 2 pounds, 8 and ½ ounces! Unbelievable!
No… not unbelievable at all, because God answers prayer, and
this has been on all of our minds, and in our hearts, and in our
petitions and those of all of our prayer partners from around the
world. AND WE ALL THANK YOU LORD.
As a result of her weight gain, the care team will increase
Alyssa’s feeding from 20 ml to 23 ml every three hours – which
will further assist her in her growth. The more you gain, the
more you eat – such a deal!
I was able to care for Alyssa today as well – changing Alyssa’s
diaper.
We do thank you Lord for allowing Alyssa to gain the weight that
she need to grow and develop, so that she can gain sufficient
strength to breath on her own.
