Interview with Paul Lidel

Hello Paul Lidel of the band 99
CRIMES and welcome to
Rocknation. Your latest digital
single “Wolf Blood Moon” is
available on all digital formats
worldwide. What is the song
about?
Wolf Blood Moon is about
the end of the world and feel-
ing isolated. It was written on
the night of the Wolf Blood
Moon in 2019, but I think a lot
of people can relate to it these
days, especially the feelings of
isolation. Supposedly the Wolf
Blood Mood signals the end of
the world.

The lyric video for this song is
really good. Please tell us who
produced it and the concept
behind it.
The lyric video was done by
Joshua Smith who runs the
website www.hairbandheaven.
rocks, he also did a lyric video
for our song “Rumor”. It
combines live footage which
was shot by Doug Immell and
Devon Kessler and various
images related to the song title.

What studio did you record this new track at and did you use a producer?
We returned to 512 Studios for the recording of Wolf Blood Moon, along with some other songs.
We recorded our first album there, and once again our producer was Omar Vallejo.

Did the entire band contribute to the writing process?
Yes, like a lot of our songs it started with a rough demo and then the guys all came up with their own parts. The songs really
come to life in rehearsal when everyone adds their ideas.

I hear a little Dio influence on this track. What influences did you have?
I think our main influences are old school rock like early Van Halen, Aerosmith, Deep Purple and Rainbow, and yes Dio!

With this Pandemic going on, are there any shows in the future lined up
yet?
We are hoping to return to the stage as soon as possible. The pandemic
has certainly slowed things down for us and everyone, but we’re
chomping at the bit to get back to playing live shows!
