                    Interview with Tom Dobrentey

Hello Tom of Abandoned Souls and welcome to Rocknation. The band has a ripping new video for the song “Blinding
Darkness”. Please tell us about that video.
Thank you for having me and thanks for the kind words about the new vid! We are pretty excited about the response we have
received so far. The song was written at the end of last year and is about losing a loved one and how we cope with the dark
times that can result from loss. Unfortunately, there are many of us going through some darker times right now. We haven’t
played live this year because of all the lockdowns and closures, so when it came time to decide on a theme for the video we
knew we definitely wanted to have the band performing in most of it. We tried to give it an intimate vibe to make the audience
feel like they were jamming along in the room with us, in addition to taking them on a journey with some cinematic elements.
I think we did a good job of achieving that goal.

Do you have this song available on digital formats?
The song is available on all of the usual digital platforms: Spotify, Apple, Deezer, Tidal, etc. The song is starting to get featured
on some playlists on Spotify also. The Rock Coalition Playlist is a pretty cool one we’ve been digging. I think that one is on
      Apple also.

I see a lot of press and airplay for the band worldwide, who is doing that for your band?
We have been working with Asher Media Relations out of Montreal. We started with Jon Asher back when we released our last
ep, “Make It Last” in 2017. He is a really good guy and does a great job getting us the exposure and press we need.

What bands have you played in concert with in Canada?
We have played with a lot of great acts up here in Canada. One of our most recent shows was with Lynch Mob in Toronto. That
one turned out to be a fantastic night with an awesome crowd. Other acts that come to mind off the top of my head are Skid
Row and King’s X, to name a few. There is also a lot of talent here, so we do a lot of great shows with our fellow Ontario bands.

How has the pandemic affected your band in Canada?
At the beginning of the year we were in pre-production for a new EP that we were working on. Just as we were trying to wrap
up the writing, the pandemic hit and we were forced to go on hiatus. Luckily we already had most of the tracks completed for
the song Blinding Darkness, so we were able to put the finishing touches on that song and release it now. We are still not
rehearsing in person at this point, but we are sending files back and forth (the Drop Box has been getting a lot of use) for
another new song from the batch we had for the EP. We are hoping to release one more single by the end of the year, or at
least finish it by then and release early in the new year. I’ll keep you posted!

Thank you for taking time for this interview and any last words to the fans?
We want to thank everyone that’s been supporting us over the years and would
encourage lovers of hard rock music who have not heard us yet, or heard of us,
to give us a listen. We would also ask you to check out our new video for
Blinding Darkness on YouTube and please subscribe to our channel.
Thanks again for having us. It’s always a pleasure to speak with Rocknation.
Hopefully we will all be seeing each other for some live music soon!
