Does the entire band contribute
to the writing process?
Yes, the songs come together
in a many different ways,
sometimes we will just start
jamming and songs come out
of that. I’m always recording
demos of new songs, and when
the guys like one of those we
will try it at rehearsal. It’s
exciting when the songs come
to life when everyone puts their
ideas into them and they go
from just being song demos to
being 99 Crimes songs.
The band just released a killer
new lyric video for the track
“Rumor”. Please tell us about
the video and who produced
it?
The lyric video for “Rumor”
was produced and edited by
Josh Smith. He runs the
online rock magazine
HairbandHeaven.Rocks and
after I did an interview for his magazine, offered to make a lyric video for us, and sent me a couple other lyric videos that he had
done for other bands. He did a great job. I think having a lyric video for “Rumor” was a perfect way to represent the song. He
included some clips of the band playing live, and also clips from when we played live on the TV show “Dave TV”.
How has Social Networking like Twitter and Facebook worked for your band and which one is better for you?
I’m not too much of a social media guy myself, so I wouldn’t really know how to answer that question. Our drummer Chris
handles most of the social media for the band. I do have a facebook page and I check the 99 Crimes facebook page. We
correspond with fans through our facebook page.
If you had to tell someone what your 99 CRIMES music sounded like, what bands would you mention?
I would tell them that the band has lot influences from the late 70’s and early eighties like early Van Halen, Judas Priest,
Aerosmith and Dio, with a tip of the hat to bands like Rush and Triumph and Kiss.
What plans do you have for 2019?
We are going to try to reach as many people as we can.
In addition to continuing to play around Texas, we also
have plans to play shows on the east coast coming up
this summer and to build from there. We would really like
to tour overseas, we’ll be working on that. We’ve already
started working on songs for the next album. We’ll
probably go back in the studio in late 2019.
Thank you for taking time for this interview. Any last
words to the 99 CRIMES fans worldwide?
Yes, I’d like to say thanks to all of our “Partners In Crime”
who have helped us out by coming to our shows, buying
our CD’s, T-shirts etc. and sharing our posts and videos
on their social media pages to spread the word about 99
Crimes. We like to correspond with our fans so feel free to
shoot us a message on our facebook page.
