Together, we prepare people for work.

               COURT APPEARANCES

Employees will be excused from work for the length of time they must testify in court — i.e., non- work-
related civil suit or criminal action subpoenas. -If employees have PTO, they will be required to use it.
Otherwise, time off will be without pay.

Employees are only granted time off with pay if their court appearance is required because of their job
capacity at GESMN or subpoenaed for reasons related to GESMN. Employees should provide prior notice
(copy of subpoena or summons) to their manager when they receive their summons.

LEAVE FOR VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC ABUSE OR HARASSMENT

Minnesota’s Women’s Economic Security Act (WESA) entitles Goodwill-Easter Seals employees
reasonable time off from work to obtain, or attempt to obtain, an order of protection due to domestic
abuse or harassment and/or other relief from a court related to domestic abuse or harassment.

Except in cases of imminent danger to the employee's health or safety or the employee’s child, or unless
impractical, an employee who is absent from the workplace due to any of the above reasons should give
48 hours’ notice to GESMN. When requested, the employee must provide verification to support the
employee’s reason for being absent from the workplace.
Employees are required to substitute accrued Paid Time Off (PTO) for leave under this policy. If accrued
PTO is not available, the leave will be unpaid.

GESMN will keep all information related to the employee’s leave in this section confidential.

               VOTING

               MINNESOTA EMPLOYEES

The State of Minnesota allows eligible employees reasonable paid time off from work to vote in certain
               elections. The specifics are:
                   • Employees may only use this time off for a regularly scheduled election, an election to fill a

vacancy in the office of United States senator or United States representative, an election to
fill a vacancy in nomination for a constitutional office, an election to fill a vacancy in the
office of state senator or state representative or a presidential nomination primary under
                          chapter 207A.
                   • Employees may only take the time necessary to appear at the polling place, cast a ballot,
and return to work on Election Day.
                   • Employees must advise their manager of the need for time off before Election Day so the
manager can ensure proper coverage to fulfill business needs.
                   • Employees must report to their manager when they return from voting.
