De Bortoli Wines is a third generation family wine company, established by Vittorio and Giuseppina De
Bortoli in 1928. They emigrated to Australia from their mountain village in the foothills of the Italian
Alps, near the historic town of Asolo, and their Italian heritage still drives the way the family makes its
wine.
Vittorio and Giuseppina's son, the energetic and dynamic Deen De Bortoli (1936 - 2003) expanded and
consolidated the business created by his parents. In turn, Deen's children established De Bortoli's
reputation for premium wine including iconic dessert wine Noble One and the Yarra Valley wines.
Steve Webber
The straight-talking and charismatic Steve Webber is head-
winemaker at De Bortoli. Steve is married to Leanne De
Bortoli, grand-daughter of Vittorio and Giuseppina, and
together they moved to the family owned estate in Yarra
Valley to make their home, but more importantly to make
wine. This cool climate region benefits from well-structured
soils providing an ideal platform for viticulture.
