Yalumba is an indigenous word meaning “all the land around”. The Hill Smith family has been
making wines at Yalumba in the Barossa for Five Generations. We are extremely proud of our
history but are equally as excited about our future. The Barossa has a 200 million year old
nutrient rich landscape in which our old vines grow. Our first vineyards that were planted in
1849 continue to produce fruit for our wine today.
Yalumba is Australia’s oldest family owned winery and yet we don’t view ourselves as owners.
We consider ourselves to be custodians whose responsibility it is to nurture and grow Yalumba;
leaving it in better shape for future generations. And not just the next generation of owners, but
for the next generation of wine lovers too. Shaped by our past but focused on the future,
Yalumba is a thought-leader that crafts and shares the finest of wines
