Training

               Training Sessions

It’s a proven fact with competitive swimming, the more training you do, the better your
performance will be in competition. The club therefore encourages swimmers to take up as many
training sessions as they possibly can in order to increase and/or maintain fitness levels, whilst

               improving your technique.

Swimmers must arrive on poolside no less than five minutes before their session is due to begin,
with all of their kit, so that they are ready to get into the pool. It should be noted that the start
time of the training session is the time to enter the water, not to arrive at the leisure centre.
Please try to arrive in good time as swimmers entering the pool late tend to disrupt the warm-up.

Our coaches retain the right to turn away any swimmer who is late for a training session.

Swimmers should, as mentioned before, have a complete training kit bag with them at every

training session, including: hat [ideally two, just in case one splits], two pairs of goggles,
kickboard, pull buoy, fins and sufficient drinking water to last the session. No fizzy drinks! Again
coaches have the right to turn a swimmer away if they arrive without drinking water on poolside.

Training fees are paid three times a year and generally fall in-line with school terms. Training
sessions continue through all half-term holidays. A reduced programme is provided during the

summer holidays and again at Christmas, to maintain fitness throughout these longer breaks, all
swimmers are encouraged to attend as many of these sessions as possible.

               Current Training Schedule

We currently operate 15 training sessions per week, open to the different squads and across 5

separate venues. The training times are as follows:
