                THE DISQUALIFICATION
                OF MPHATSO NADOLO
                 Many spectators and athletes were
shocked to hear that Mphatso Nadolo,
who finished first in the men’s category,
                 had been disqualified. Nadolo himself
could be seen crying in disbelief that he has Nadolo cerebrates as he crosses the finishing line
been disqualified as he thought he had
walked away with K1,500,000. Later, after
noticing how Nadolo was behaving, Dr.
Isaac Chapweteka, who was the chair of
the medical committee, decided to take
Nadolo to Queens Elizabeth Central Hos-
pital for treatment. After almost two
hours, it was reported that Nadolo was
now in the right frame of mind and had
                 been discharged from hospital.

                 WHAT

HAPPENED? Nadolo passing through the Catholic CI church

                                                                   just before Gerrato restaurant

According to a report from the technical committee, Nadolo was disqualified after he short-
ened the distance at Gerrato Restaurant in CI, instead of following the marked route.

As a result, the technical committee felt that he had gone against competition and technical
rules, as espoused in World Athletics 2022 edition, with a particular emphasis on technical
                 rule (TR 55:10) quoted below:

“If the referee is satisfied on the report of a judge or umpire or otherwise that an athlete has
left the marked course thereby shortening the distance to be covered, they shall be disquali-
                 fied.”
