                  B-Seed-Producing Plants

                        The most advanced of living plants.

                        Distinguished by:

                             1)  Formation of pollen tube.

                             2)  Production of seeds

                        They include 5 divisions, of which 4 divisions comprise the plants producing

                         naked seeds (Gymnosperms) and the fifth division Anthophyta comprises


                         the Angiosperms, i.e., flowering plants.
                  A.  Gymnosperms “Naked seeds plants”: They have female strobili “♀cone” and or

                      male  strobili  “♂  cones”.  They  classified  into  4  divisions:  Cycadophyta,


                      Ginkgophyta, Gnetophyta and Coniferophyta.


                                                o  They  are  the  most  distributed  division  of

                                                   gymnosperms. The leaves are needle-like or scaly.

                                                o  Vascular tissue:  Only trachieds (no fibers or vessels).

                                                o  The largest genus is Pinus (over 100 species).
