• Turn on power to the windlass.
• Connect windlass controller to windlass on foredeck.
• Remove chain deck lock plate.
• Remove slider locking pin, unlock windlass break, roll out some slack anchor chain.
• Move anchor slider to forward position and insert locking pin.
• Lock windlass brake.
• Release anchor screwed latch.
• If water depth is less than 6m:
o Deploy 3 x depth of water in chain.
o Note: 20 m of chain available.
• If water depth greater than 6 m:
o Deploy all the anchor chain (20m).
o Allow rope to run freely, until anchor and chain are on seabed.
o Manage rope by hand until suitable depth deployed.
o Make cleat on top of windlass.
o Remove winch controller.
o Secure plug cover on windlass.
o Secure chain plate.
Anchor Recovery
• Shallow water recovery:
o Collect windlass controller and handle.
o Ensure the brake is tight.
o Remove anchor chain lock.
o Connect windlass controller.
o On the command of the Coxswain, commence recovery of anchor.
o Winch until the swivel of the anchor is on the bow roller and stop.
o Slowly edge the anchor stock into the slide by intermittent controller operations.
o Once the anchor is completely in the slide, stop.
o Remove locking pin from the slide.
o Winch the slide back slowly and refit locking pin.
o Slack chain.
o Lock down anchor latch.
o Release brake to allow chain to line up with cover plate.
o Remove controller and place plug cap back on windlass.
