Note:
      • If the flooding is in the engine room and there has been no damage to the hull by way of a
breach, then the source of the water will more than likely be one of the engine sea cooling water
      system’s pipes.
      • You will need to check which engine has the sea water pipe leak and shut down that engine.
      • There may be cold sea water spraying onto the hot engines which will lead to the engine room
possibly being filled with steam, which may reduce the visibility in the engine room and be a safety
      hazard.

      • If it is the starboard engine, shut down that engine to stop the flow of water into the engine room,
followed by closing the starboard engine’s sea valve.
      • If it is the port engine, shut down that engine to stop the flow of water into the engine room,
followed by closing the port engine’s sea valve.
      • There is a cross over pipe between the port and stbd bilge pumps for redundancy on the suction
side of the pumps, this enables you to use the port or stbd engines to pump from any compartment
