       5 Minute Journaling

Journaling is a great way to clear your mind and express your emotions. It allows
you to express thoughts, emotions and ideas in a safe space.

       Instructions:
On a piece of paper, in a notebook or a journal, write for 3-5 minutes each day

on one of the following questions:
              • The most meaningful thing I have had happen in the last 24 hours is …

              • Where was I most effective today ….
              • My intention for today is …

              • I am feeling <insert> today …

       Tip:

Keep a journal for this purpose in your car, apron, desk or carry it with you. Take
this “brain break” for 5 minutes before or after your shift, when you get home, or
at time where you can sit and focus. Everyone can find 5 minutes in their day!

       Did you know?

Journaling has lots of great benefits, one of which is boosting your sense of
empowerment. Journaling about a positive experience allows your brain to relive
it and strengthens those neural pathways, making it more likely you will respond

that way in the future. It also helps reaffirm your ability to manage self-doubt. The
release of endorphins and dopamine will boost your self-esteem and mood. These

reflections can become a catalogue of personal achievements that you continue to
       go back to.

“Journaling is like whispering to one’s self and listening at

                                      the same time.” Mina Murray
