school nurse should do training for teachers or other
appropriate school personnel about first aid and
cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
School nurse should promote a healthful school environment:
Physical environment:
o The nurse must liaise with staff in ensuring that there is a
high standard of environ mental hygiene (water, sanitation,
latrines, dormitories)
o Daily round in the classes to be sure there is a good
ventilation and good lighting.
o Daily round in the bath room to ensure adequate water
supply and proper sewage disposal.
o Write a report on the building in a special book and present
it to the administrator and the physician.
o Be alert to the environmental deficiencies and hazards and
make suggestions to the maintenance department.
Nonphysical environment:
o The nurse must involve teachers and parents in children's
problems.
o Listen to students and their problems.
o Give support and advice to any student need it.
o Promote good student- teacher- parent relationship.
School nurse as an educator:
- Health education can be performed by more than one method as
following:
o In formal health education with students, staff and parents.
