For example: a student is identified with pediculosis (head lice)school
nurse give health teaching to students , staff and parents to prevent
spread of infection and ways of prevention (one to one basis).
o Formal health teaching: Health teaching in class room
o Health teaching as support to the classroom teacher:
A nurse who has special experience in growth and development
helps the biology teacher prepare for a class presentation by providing
posters featuring the growth and development of fetus.
o Curriculum planning and development:
Health education can be addressed by integrating it throughout the
curriculum or by developing specific courses
The nurse can participate in the parent counsel and stimulate the
interest and cooperation of parents in the school health program.
Conduct health conferences with teachers about students' health.
Assist in planning curriculum for health instructors.
Give health education to sick children about how to prevent re
infection.
Help in planning and conducting school health projects.
Assist in services education training for teachers.
Interpret and use of the available community resources.
Contributing to the health of the family through discussion on home
visits.
Participate in class discussion in occasions such as immunization,
comprehensive medical examination and injuries.
