Robin Thicke and Pharrell
Williams were sued for
copyright infringement over
their song "Blurred Lines." The
plaintiffs were the heirs of
Marvin Gaye, who co-wrote the
1977 song "Got to Give It Up."
The case went to trial in 2015,
and a jury found in favor of the
Katy Perry was sued for copyright infringement over her plaintiffs, awarding them $7.4
song "Dark Horse." The plaintiffs were the heirs of Marcus million in damages.
Gray, who co-wrote the 2009 song "Joyful Noise." The case
went to trial in 2019, and a jury found in favor of the
plaintiffs, awarding them $2.8 million in damages.
