Paignton & Dartmouth Steam RailwayYour holiday begins in the seaside town of Paignton, where we meet the Tour Manager at our hotel. After settling in, there%u2019s time to look around and maybe walk along the Victorian esplanade before dinner. The town has an unspoilt harbour, a promenade, a traditional pier and an attractive beachfront with colourful beach huts. Day 2 starts with a coach transfer to the medieval town of Totnes where we take a scenic boat cruise along the River Dart to Dartmouth. With free time over lunch in this harbour town, maybe visit the 14th-century Dartmouth Castle, or enjoy fish and chips. Later, we cross the Dart Estuary by ferry to the village of Kingswear, where we board the wonderful Dartmouth Steam Railway* for a trip along the coastline back to Paignton. This scenic route passes the wooded slopes of Long Wood and the spectacular English Riviera Geopark coastline. Days 3-4. South Devon Railway & Buckfast AbbeyDay 3 is free to get to know Paignton at your own pace. You could take a walk to the pier, or continue along the rugged headland. The 18th-century harbour is the centrepiece of the bay where you could sample freshly-caught fish. Our coach takes us to Buckfastleigh on Day 4, where we take a seven-mile round trip on the steam-hauled South Devon Railway* to Totnes and back, along the scenic valley of the River Dart. Our day continues with a visit to Buckfast Abbey, a working community of Benedictine monks with award-winning gardens, an interactive exhibition, and a lovely chapel to discover. Later we arrive in the idyllic coastal town of Teignmouth. With its elegant Georgian buildings and sandy beaches, this is the perfect setting for our traditional high tea in the Riviera Tearooms before a chance to look around independently. Day 5. Homeward boundToday marks the end of your English Riviera holiday. After breakfast, it%u2019s time to check out and make your way home or discover Devon independently. *Trains are steam-hauled where possible. However, due to timetable changes or weather conditions, heritage diesel locomotives may be running instead.YOUR ITINERARYSecure your place now with a %u00a3150pp deposit2025 Departures: APR, MAY, JUN, JUL, SEPTour Code: TQB | %u00a3 per person based on 2 sharing.
