Douglas, the Isle of Man Steam Railway and CastletownYour Isle of Man holiday starts when we meet the Tour Manager in Heysham, Lancashire. Here, we board the ferry to Douglas in the Isle of Man and check in to our hotel. On Day 2, we ride the Isle of Man Steam Railway along the southwest coast, reaching Port Erin, set in a beautiful bay. After some free time, we continue by coach around the headland to see the Calf of Man. Later, we arrive in Castletown and enjoy a visit to the Old House of Keys.Day 3. Tynwald Hill, Peel and the Manx Electric RailwayThis morning, our first stop is Tynwald Hill in the village of St John%u2019s. Here, our driver shares some insight into the village%u2019s history before continuing to the traditional fishing port of Peel. Known for its 11th-century castle, there%u2019s time at leisure to explore Peel and you could visit the medieval fortress. Later, we head to Ramsey for free time. This coastal town has a harbour, vast beach and quaint streets. Boarding the Manx Electric Railway back to Douglas, our journey takes us through glorious countryside, across gorse-topped hills and along the island%u2019s rugged coastline. Day 4. The Snaefell Mountain Railway and LaxeyToday we experience the Manx Electric Railway once again, on a scenic journey to the fishing village of Laxey. Here we board the Snaefell Mountain Railway %u2013 the only electric mountain railway in the British Isles. From the summit, the views are glorious. After our scenic trip up the mountain, there%u2019s free time to explore the village of Laxey. You can travel back to Douglas on the Manx Electric Railway whenever you wish. Days 5-6. A day at leisure in Douglas & homeward boundYou have a free day to discover the Isle of Man at your own pace. With your 5-day Explorer Pass there are countless things to do in the town of Douglas or beyond. On Day 6, it%u2019s time to say our farewells to the Isle of Man. We are transferred the short distance to Douglas Port where we board the ferry for our return sailing across the Irish Sea to Heysham.
