B. Wider - it provides for liability arising out of the perils
of fire, explosion or accident due to negligence as
covered under the basic policy. In addition, liability
resulting in loss or damage due to perils of the fire, riot
and strike, malicious damage, burglary whilst goods are
in carriers custody. Shortage due to theft and pilferage,
flood or water damage, damage by other cargo,
breakage, leakage and damage due to improper handling.

Ans. N.L.Malhari v Post Master General Bangalore can
explain the interpretation of Courts on the phrase 'arising
out of and in the course of employment.' Malhari was
one of the mazdoors employed by the P&T Department
for the erection of telephone lines along a railway track.
One day, while he was returning with a bucket of water
which he had collected from a stationary engine, he was
knocked down by an incoming passenger train and killed.
Compensation was claimed on his behalf on the ground
that accident arose 'out of and in the course of
