Q8.(a) Define disablement under personal accident
insurance.
Ans. A person is said to be disabled under personal accident
insurance, when he is unable to attend to his normal
occupation or business and hence unable to earn to his
capacity.
This means the physical inability of the person due to an
accidental bodily injury to attend to his occupation of
business. However it should be noted that although there
may not be any loss of earning capacity there still can
be disablement in the policy.
Q8.(b)Describe types of disablement covered under
the personal accident policy.
Ans. There are three types of disablement covered
under the personal accident policy, they are as
follows:
(i) Permanent total disablement -permanent total
disablement is of permanent and irrecoverable and
is absolutely total in the sense that the insured is
unable to engage in gainful employment of any kind,
