                        17. Customized reports on TPM & OEE

In IIoT, some decisions are taken by the algorithm of a computer. But ultimately the end user
should get some reports about machine productivity & 16 types of losses. Let us see what is
TPM. TPM is Total Productive Maintenance. TPM is a holistic approach to equipment mainte-
nance that tries to achieve perfect production.

                             No Breakdowns
 No Small Stops or Slow Running
                             No Defects
                             No Accidents
TPM emphasizes proactive & preventative maintenance to maximize the operational efficiency
                      of equipment.

The 16 Losses In Total Productive Maintenance : To help identify all losses in a process sys-
tem (man/machine/material), & thus, eliminate them, they have been divided into 16 catego-
ries, and can be grouped accordingly, as shown in Figure 1, with orange representing the
equipment related losses, blue representing the losses relating to manpower and yellow repre-
senting the losses relating to resource consumption.

Though above are theoretical losses mentioned, many organizations have created their own
list of losses. CIMCO-MDC gives freedom to define the list of losses & is colour code. There is a
provision to switch from one type of loss to other type of loss. In CIMCO terminology, we call it
downtime. These losses / downtimes can be fed to the system by 1) Bar Code Scanning, or 2)
Android device or 3) Touch Screen or 4) By desktop PC or 5) By some HMI kind of device.
