P. 12

Update: June 5, 2020

Our aggregated content test results came back underwhelming. In this test we created feeds on
our site targeting a main "update" keyword (or a term that would constantly be updated like,
"marketing events in Chicago"). We then used content from Google events to create a blog post
for each month that aggregated all of the duplicate info for the events that month, such as
               "February Marketing Events in Chicago."

In many cases, our terms surprisingly ranked fairly but we did see a lot of mixed results,
especially when sourcing aggregated content from multiple websites, as opposed to content
taken from Google rich snippets or another search.

At the end of the day, the results were inconclusive and need to be refined and retested.

Will You Be Penalized for Duplicate Content if it’s No Longer Online?

               Test Setup:

To be penalized for duplicate content, the original content must be indexed. If the content is not
indexed in a SERP result, you have no worries about duplicate content issues - Google has no
record of it. This got us thinking, what about ALL the content that is no longer online? How well
would this content perform in the SERPs, and more importantly how do we get it?

We found a few methods that work well, but the best was searching through expired and auction
domains with tools like expireddomains.net. Once you have a list of domains, throw them in
archive.org to explore the content. After 5 minutes of searching expired roofing domains, we
found a winner. Then, we put the content in Copyscape and found 540 words of 100% unique
content, highly targeted for our website’s niche (just swap out brand or location references).

This is the exact method we used to get over 8,000+ word content in less than an hour for the
site. Be sure content doesn't return results over 10%, some content is still in use.

               Test Results: March 6, 2020

The initial ranking results (1st 7 days) for "service" in "city" terms for the target services across
were strong. As you can see, the content performed extremely well on money pages right out of
the gate. This wasn’t poor quality spun garbage. We uncovered a content strategy that ranks
without spending hours writing. Just find content on an old website that is no longer live or has
content no indexed, and use it...
