4.1 AGM 2020
After a brief discussion, the the meeting agreed as follows:
➢ SAPPO must follow the currrent AGM programme for another
year before any changes are considered.
➢ The National Council meeting held on the day before the AGM
was important as it offered fellow council members the
opportunity to be updated on matters in the various areas.
➢ The National Council meeting in February should go ahead to
ensure greater involvement by national council members in
SAPPO matters and to allow them to assume their responsibilities.
A presentation by a motivational speaker could form part of the
meeting.
➢ Johann Kotzé should visit the various regions and provide council
members with feedback.
➢ A board pack, as well as the resolutions that need to be passed,
should be available at the National Council meeting prior to the
AGM.
4.2 Disaster fund
Johann Kotzé reported that there would be a suprlus on the budget
by the end of the financial year.
It was proposed that R2,5 million of the surplus be transferred to a
self-insured fund (reserve/holding fund) at Santam and that it be
ringfenced as a disaster fund.
In the presentation to the NAMC during SAPPO’s application for the
new statutory levy, the fund was reflected in the budget. The NAMC
accepted the principle of a fund, which was part of a PPP with
government. It is well described by the lawyers and may not be
used for anything else.
