Project 01

Carcass classification project commenced on 3rd June at ARC Irene. Last slaughtering was on 30th September. Final report
is expected before the end of November
Project 02

Melissa Cupido’s application for funding was approved. Contract still needs to be signed by Stellenbosch University. First
report received. Dean asked to solve the impasse.
Project 03

Dr Juanita van Heerden of the ARC-OVI at Onderstepoort for a project titled:” The Risk of African Swine Fever to Gauteng”
Partial funding. CEO signature still awaited.
Project 04

Dr Mokoele of the Veterinary faculty at Onderstepoort for partial funding of a PhD project on “The prevalence, percep-
tions and mitigation of antimicrobial resistance in pig farms of Gauteng province and surroundings in South Africa”.
SAPPO was asked to fund the part on molecular markers. Signing of the contract is awaited.
