PUBLIC EDUCATION CENTER

                      Public Education Centers are Educational Institutions that Provide Service to
               Provincial and District Centers, Subdivisions and Villages for the General Purposes of Turkish
               National Education and the Purpose and Functions of Non-formal Education.

                      Simultaneously with the Public Reading Rooms, it provided services to the public to
               provide information, skills, improve behavior and guide the social, cultural and economic
               development of the public through education.

                      Public Education Centers have been non-formal education institutions that organize
               social and cultural courses and vocational and general knowledge courses in order to deliver
               these services to the public.

                      Working Disciplines were determined with the “Regulation on Non-Formal Education
               Institutions”, which was put into effect on 27 July 1979.

                                       Objectives of Public Education Center

                      • To make citizens understand the meaning of Atatürk's Revolutions, to adopt the
               principles of the Republic and the democratic life, to root them in the country, to develop
               the feelings of free discipline, mutual understanding, love, respect and tolerance, which are
               the basis of democratic life,

                      • Helping and Guiding the Social, Cultural and Economic Development of My
               Community in Educational Ways by Equipping Citizens with Knowledge, Skills, Developing
               and Advancing their Knowledge and Skills, Behavior and Values.

                      Public Education Centers are the Educational Institutions with the Easiest Access in
               Adult Education, which organize free courses in vocational, social, social, economic, sportive
               and cultural fields for citizens of all ages, with different education, income, social status and
               cultural levels. .

                      The General Directorate of Public Education was established on 29 August 1960,
               under the Ministry of National Education, in order to expand the Area of Influence of Public
               Education Centers and to carry out their activities systematically throughout the country.
                      The General Directorate of Non-formal Education was established in 1977 under the
               Ministry of National Education, based on the National Education Basic Law No.


                      The new General Directorate of Apprenticeship Education was established in 1978,
               based on the National Education Basic Law No. 1739.
                      Public Education Centers continued to serve under this General Directorate together
               with Vocational Training Centers Providing Apprentice Training. With the Law on the
               Organizational Duties of the Ministry of National Education dated 13 December 2983 and
               numbered 179, the General Directorate of Apprenticeship Education and the General
               Directorate of Non-formal Education were established. Public Education Centers continued
               to serve under this General Directorate.
