GOLF CLUB NAME - VENUE AUDIT
Membership Committee
The 2020 season saw the introduction of a new captain and committee for the coming season which
requires relationship building and management. It has been highlighted that members have in the past
been opposed to offering any new member incentive or discounts. They feel it is not fair; they have been
long-term supporters and will not see any benefit from such activities.
Over the past number of years, the ladies club has proved difficult to manage, and there have been some
internal club issues which have seen several the ladies leave due to differences of opinion. The ladies club
has worked well in particular on the CGI Get Into Golf program which has been a great success. This will
be continuing in 2020, and the members have shown great willingness to integrate the new ladies into the
existing club.
Playing Time & Competition Fees
Members main competition days are from dawn to 9:30 am Saturday, and 11:30 am on Sunday. It is agreed
that unused tee times are available to the management to be sold if not used. Timeslots are allocated in
ten-minute slots and play as three balls to help encourage quicker round times. There is no waiting list
function in use on the timesheet as all members can currently be accommodated. On Wednesday, they
host a member’s scramble, which has turned into a very popular event.
With regards to competition fees, the weekly fee is currently €10, which includes 2’s. Members can opt to
pay a one-off fee of €130 which will cover entry to all events for the season.
Members have access to run Open competitions on the Bank Holiday Mondays to raise funds for the club.
Revenue is split equally between the club and the management.
Member Communication
The club currently communicates mainly with members through a monthly newsletter issued via the BRS
system. This newsletter includes contact from the pro-shop, greenkeeper, hotel and golf professional. In
addition to this, the club noticeboards in the members' clubhouse area and timesheet banner messages
are also used.
The management will meet with the club committee officially once a year (around September) where they
will convey the subscriptions for the coming year which will be voted on by the club at their AGM. The
previous golf manager would meet with the club committee once a month, but that is no longer the case.
Norma does speak with them frequently and feels this is enough and that no more contact is required. She
would deal with day to day items as they arise.
Member Events
The club has trialled running members appreciation events however they have not been well supported.
Most recently this was held in March 2019 and included a golf clinic with Simon Thornton along with food
which only drew a couple of members and was disappointing for those involved in organising.
